June 2020 news

Due to the current pandemic situation, all Scouting events across Oxfordshire this summer have been canceled.

This means that events and camps that our members would normally have enjoyed participating in are no longer taking place, such as CESAW, Aqua Camp and County Awards Day.

The Oxfordshire Scouts organisation is hoping to start running activities again from September, but this has yet to be confirmed. We will keep you informed as things develop.

Last month it was announced by the UK Scouts that Bear Grylls has agreed to stay on as Chief Scout until 2023.

He acts as the face of Scouting in the UK and helps promote the association.During these challenging times it is reassuring that some things remain the same!

Throughout this lockdown our Cubs have been holding weekly meetings on Zoom, which has been a great way for them to keep in touch and interact with each other remotely. They have enjoyed taking part in challenges, playing games and showing each other their pets.

We still don’t know when we will be able to resume normal face-face meetings and activities, but we will keep you informed as things progress.

In the meantime, stay safe and thank you to all our volunteers and leaders who are still working hard behind the scenes.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
