December 2019 News

Firstly a BIG THANK YOU to all our members that attended the Remembrance Day parade and service last month. The leaders said that everyone behaved impeccably and we had a great turn out. Well done!

Secondly, a reminder that on Saturday 14th December, we will be delivering Christmas cards in Long Hanborough, to raise funds for ourselves and Sobell House. Lots of our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and their parents will be needed to help, so please keep Saturday 14th December free! More details will follow via the group leaders.

So, what have we been doing lately? Read on to find out!

Beavers have been busy learning the art of cleaning their teeth (more fun than it sounds) and visited Witney Fire Station. Cubs have been learning British Sign Language, and earned their Teamwork badges by walking the plank.

Scouts went away for an indoor camping weekend last month, and will have a presentation evening this month to receive all their badges. Congratulations!

Explorers have changed venue. They will now be meeting from 7:30 until 9pm on Wednesday evenings at the Pavilion in Long Hanborough. They have outgrown the Newell Room and need a bigger space for their activities.

Finally, we don’t often talk about the Executive Committee, but they do a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure our groups run as smoothly as possible. Last month all members of the committee, including group leaders, took part in mandatory Safeguarding training. That training helps us to keep all the young people in our groups safe and as protected as possible.
